Comments: Have your own room in lovely caravan surrounded by foliage and beside the Home by the sea. Own privately situated caravan surrounded by foliage in summer or a room inside during colder weather. Outdoor bath for moonlight bathing. Must be self sufficient as not much entertainment in the immediate area. I eat healthily, and eat meat only occasionally. Non smokers please. Good conversational English required. Email rather than phone or text. Pick up from Westport by arrangement.
Hobbies: Gardening, singing, tai chi, sculpture, reading, ukulele, walking.
Greymouth DP&SP
Activities: We run a busy central hostel and keep the it in high standards. We need help with cleaning, maintenance & reception, 3-4 hours/day.
Comments: Located in central Greymouth. Helpers have free accommodation in a private unit, unlimited Wifi, new bicycles to ride, toast & jam every morning, soup every evening, coffee & tea 24/7 & more. Nearby cycling, hiking, fishing, gold panning.
Greymouth LR
Activities: Large hostel located close to Greymouth Central. This friendly old building used to be a Monastery and has hosted many travellers. Light duties include cleaning, folding laundry, and some gardening. Plenty of spare time for local attractions eg Punakaiki
Comments: Volunteers stay together in a sunny west facing room. There is a large deck to enjoy the setting sun. Hot showers are adjacent to the bedroom. Wifi is unlimited and the spa pool is free. A light breakfast is provided in the winter months. We also enjoy shared pot luck dinners together and eating cakes. Come and join us.
Hobbies: Having fun with our visitors.
Hokitika JK & MS
Activities: Hobby farm with horses, sheep & lambs, chickens & pet dogs. Help with gardening (lots of fruit and veges), fencing, firewood, lawn mowing, cooking welcome! Sometimes painting & other jobs.
Comments: 1 young school child. Happy to collect you from the bus – Hokitika is 2km away. Stay in spare bedroom, share a bathroom. The beach waves will lull you to sleep…a 5 minute walk or bike away. Bike available most times for your use. I drive to town most days. We eat all sorts of food!
Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, horses, mountain biking, lake swimming in summer, walking/tramping.

Activities: Horse training (5-7 horses). Work may involve horses depending on experience, keen for experienced riders. Other work may include gardening, some house work, cooking, a bit of child care, fence clearing, lawn mowing, pruning trees & mucking out paddocks.
Comments: Remote coastal property with wildlife reserve lagoon. We have a preschool child. Stay in own room or use a house bus in a separate location to our house. We eat variety of food. Canoeing on lagoon, have nearby lake for swimming and bush walks.
Hobbies: Horse riding, skiing, tramping, biking, canoeing, climbing, kayaking, swimming.

Activities: Lifestyle block. Help with vegetable garden, weeding of shrub plantings and general help around the house.
Comments: I live alone or 2 school aged kids. We eat all sorts of food. Warm new house with own room, shared bathroom. Near lakes, walks, treetop walk, wild beaches (beach 5 min walk), fishing. Hokitika town 15 min walk: pool, park, river, cafes, shops & supermarket. Bikes available. Can pick up from bus in Hokitika.
Hobbies: Walking, fishing, gardening, cycling and enjoying the local lake.

Comments: Must have happy & energetic attitude and fit in with the family. Must enjoy animals. You are here also to enjoy the area. Beaches 10 min drive, Wangapeka track 10 min walk. Near walking, hunting, nature watch, photograghy. Karamea 20 min drive, 1 hr by bicycle.
West Coast N W
Activities: Herb sanctuary is a work in progress, current main focus is building nursery structures, designing garden, tree and herb planting. Building, painting, pest control, weeding, grass cutting, log splitting (petrol powered log splitter). Work hours negotiab
Comments: Surrounded by Dept of Conservation forests in the mountains, plenty of lakes and rivers. Shared accommodation 2 bunk beds. Pick up visitors from Christchurch with notice. Happy to take visitors on tours of the area, glaciers, pancake rocks and other places tourists rarely see. 55 min inland from Greymouth. I accommodate most diets and open to new ideas.
Hobbies: Crossbow hunting (deer, pig possum & hare), Fishing (salmon & trout), eeling. smoking eels, bushwalking & swimming.
Whataroa P&S D
Activities: 350 cow dairy farm, 250 sheep, 2 horses & 5 dogs. Main duties based around cows: milking, calf rearing, drenching & some tractor work.
Comments: Sonia is a part time teacher. Very good motel type accommodation near the house for visitors. Very close to Franz & fox glaciers, lots of bush walks & sightseeing. Hobbies: horses, badminton, sheep shearing, music, gardening, guitar, skiing & rugby.
